Being recognised means there will come a point when you are no longer recognised. The pendulum swings the other way, as it were. Things have their creation, lifespan, decay and decrease structure. People use others like a scaffold that supports their need to feel important and separate from everyone else. They think being noticed makes them more alive, more special. In the end it only serves to highlight their dysfunction and pain.
The Buddha said, “A wise man, recognising that the world is but an illusion, does not act as if it is real, so he escapes suffering.”
For many, life is the illusion of an heroic struggle. They live in constant pain and confusion, the unknown scares them and they lack certainty about the future. But it does not have to be this way, even if those tigers are at your heels. You do have a choice. The legacy of the planet does not have to be one of suffering. More importantly, your life does not have to be a struggle.
