Being recognised means there will come a point when you are no longer recognised. The pendulum swings the other way, as it were. Things have their creation, lifespan, decay and decrease structure. People use others like a scaffold that supports their need to feel important and separate from everyone else. They think being noticed makes them more alive, more special. In the end it only serves to highlight their dysfunction and pain.
The Buddha said, “A wise man, recognising that the world is but an illusion, does not act as if it is real, so he escapes suffering.”
For many, life is the illusion of an heroic struggle. They live in constant pain and confusion, the unknown scares them and they lack certainty about the future. But it does not have to be this way, even if those tigers are at your heels. You do have a choice. The legacy of the planet does not have to be one of suffering. More importantly, your life does not have to be a struggle.

This is a very timely post.Just this morning life has been feeling like a struggle. And it probably is if we look for others’ approval or measure success the wrong way, or if we keep rushing around from appointment to appointment, holding lots of tension in our bodies.
It is not, if we stop rushing, work on our consciousness and live life to the full. Spirituality (in one of its many ways of manifesting itself) is probably an important key to this process.

Ian,
This is so true, I have a sister who is just like this and unfortunately for her not many of us get on with her. She changes like the wind, one minute she`ll be with one sister then backbite about her then she will jump onto someone else. I keep her at arms length because I don`t trust her. Even though she has been told about her behaviour it has no effect on her.

This is an interesting post – recognition has been the great white hope of the complementary therapist for years. Recognition by whom? The people who don’t believe in our work will never recognise it. Those who do will recognise a good practitioner when they meet one.
Belonging to the right ‘club’ makes no difference to what you do but it can involve a lot of time, money and rejection when they decide to move the goalposts.
Thank you. I have a choice, My life does not have to be a struggle.
