I watched a documentary recently about the latest member of Dragons’ Den, Hilary Devey. The main thing I noticed is that she is driven by deep seated fear of loss and is addicted to business success.
An archetypal and self-confessed workaholic, is clearly “successful” when viewed on the level of materiality, but on the level of spirituality seems a fledgling and confused person enslaved to the lure of egoic obligation.
This is what happens when you derive your identity from who you think you are and what you own. She represents the struggle of mankind where there are winners and hoards of losers on the level of covetousness and ego. Object obsessive’s who judge your level of success by what you own and how much you have in the bank.
The program would draw many viewers to question their level of success, leaving them feeling as though they are neither good enough or have enough. Both of which are illusions and sadly portrayed as the most important things in life according to the mainstream media.
Your success is not because of what you own or how much you have, but can only ever be judged on your level of consciousness.
Success to me is:
* How much choice you have over how you spend your time
* The level of your spiritual growth
* Your level of deep connection you have with people
* The expanse of your heart chakra
* Your awareness of unconsciousness in yourself and others
* The recognition and elimination of your fears
* The ability to recognise your own BS!
Whilst there will be other things that create your personal definition of success, this list is certainly not conclusive. True success is separating the stereotypical definition of success on the level of ego from your awareness of the prosperity of your expanding consciousness.
I send her love and blessings.
